SBC SURF BIO – Sharlene Cordova

Hi my name is Sharlene Cordova and I’m super excited to be the digital editor of SBC surf. My surf journey began in Ecuador when my mom bought my sister and I a pair of foamies. Those beginner boards sparked something
in me that has only grown stronger over the years. Since then, surfing has become a core part of my life—so much that I’ve traveled
and lived temporarily in places like Tofino and Ecuador to immerse myself in the culture and learn from the waves.
In Tofino, I spent winters working as a surf instructor and in a wetsuit and board rental shop, balancing work with riding cold-water
beach breaks. These experiences not only helped me grow as a surfer but also deepened my love for the industry and the community
around it.
Now, based out of Toronto, I’m thrilled to take on the role of Digital Editor. Surfing has shaped how I see the world, and I’m eager to
connect with surfers across Canada—from surf schools to industry leaders—and share their stories. Through social media, I aim
to celebrate the vibrant surf culture in Canada, highlighting its incredible people and places, and keep the stoke alive for surfers
everywhere. –Sharlene Cordova
“As publisher & CEO of SBC media, I’m very pleased to welcome Sharlene Cordova as the new Digital Editor of Surf. I know
Sharlene will do a great job. I have had the pleasure of working with her with for the last few years at CJ’s SKATEPARK where
she is a great certified skateboard instructor. So not only is she a great skateboarder she’s actually a great surfer as well.
We’re excited to welcome her and get her on board (Literally) to shape the direction and re-launch of SBC Surf to the surf
community in Canada.” – Jay Mandarino
