The world\u2019s premier junior surfing event is returning to Peru this December, as the International Surfing Association (ISA) officially announced Punta Rocas as the host location for the 2025 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship (WJSC). This historic surf break has played a major role in global competitive surfing from staging the iconic Lima 2019 Pan American Games to helping chart surfing\u2019s Olympic journey.Surf Canada has announced the 9 athletes who will represent Canada at the ISA Junior Surfing Championship taking place December 5\u201314 in Punta Rocas, Peru <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peru\u2019s roots with the ISA run deep. Since hosting the second ever World Surfing Championships in 1965, the nation has welcomed multiple ISA events, including World Surfing Games in 2010 and 2014, the first ever World Longboard Championship in 2013, and the initial editions of the World SUP and Paddle-board Championship in 2012 and 2013. Now, junior athletes from across the globe will return to this legendary coastline to chase surfing history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The WJSC has proven itself as one of the most important stepping stones in competitive surfing. Of the 72 surfers who have competed in the Olympic Games so far, 59 first competed at the World Junior Surfing Championship<\/strong> and 32 earned medals there<\/strong>. Olympic medalists like Carissa Moore, Caroline Marks, Gabriel Medina, and Tatiana Weston Webb all sharpened their competitive edge at this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In 2025, rising international talents including returning medalists and newly aged up competitors will battle through four divisions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year also sets a new milestone, welcoming 57 national teams<\/strong>, plus four first-time nations<\/strong>: Angola, India, Saint Lucia, and Slovenia.
