The Rip Curl Nationals Return to Tofino \u2013 Canada\u2019s Premiere Surf Competition is On<\/strong>
Canada\u2019s surf scene is heating up, and all eyes are on Cox Bay, Tofino<\/strong> this May as the Rip Curl Nationals<\/strong> return for their 19th year. Hosted by Surf Canada<\/strong>, this event is the pinnacle of competitive surfing in the country \u2014 and a major gathering point for surfers of all levels, from rising juniors to seasoned pros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rip Curl Longboard Nationals:<\/em> March 29
Rip Curl Nationals (Shortboard):<\/em> May 9\u201311
Competition Hours:<\/em> 7:00 AM \u2013 6:00 PM (subject to change)
Location:<\/strong>
Cox Bay, Tofino, B.C. \u2014 in front of the Maltby Road beach access. This stretch of coastline has long been considered the beating heart of competitive surfing in Canada.
Who Can Compete:<\/strong>
The Nationals are open to surfers from across Canada and internationally, with divisions that include:
Open Shortboard
Junior Shortboard (U18, U16, U14)
40+ Shortboard
Open Longboard (9\u2019 and over)
Prize Purse:<\/strong>
The total prize pool for the Open Shortboard division<\/strong> is $4,000 \u2014 with equal prize money awarded to male and female finalists<\/strong>:
1st: $1,000
2nd: $500
3rd: $300
4th: $200
