This past January 17–18, 2026, WCS Ucluelet (WCSukee) hosted an incredible surf event on Vancouver Island in Tofino, bringing together young talent, seasoned competitors, and the local surf community for a truly special weekend.

The event featured a wide range of divisions, highlighting the depth of Canadian surfing talent across all ages and disciplines. Categories included:
U12 Push-In (Into the Waves), U12 Open, U14, U16, Masters, Kahunas, Longboard, and Stand-Up Paddleboard.

None of this would have been possible without the support of some amazing sponsors who continue to uplift Canadian surf culture:
@tourismtofino, @districtoftofino, @wcsukee, @ukeepoke, @resurfcanada, and @surfgrove.

Events like this are exactly why SBC Surf Magazine is proud to support Canadian athletes from grassroots youth divisions to experienced competitors by amplifying their stories, celebrating their achievements, and helping grow the future of surfing in Canada.

The event took place on the unceded traditional territory of the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation (pronounced klaw-oh-kwee-awt), part of the Nuu-chah-nulth Peoples. In the local Nuu-chah-nulth language, this area is known as ƛaakašiis. We acknowledge and respect the stewards of this land and waters where our surf community continues to gather and thrive.

Amazingly the top surfers in this event were
Mica and Jade. They won multiple categories and beat adults, they’re 14! Canada is on the right track! The up coming generation of surfers are here to shred.
