Sometimes, the best way to see surfing or even the coast itself is to take a step back.
On the south side of Vancouver Island, along the rugged edge of the Juan de Fuca Strait, photographer Robby Benn (@bcrobby – instagram handle) captures moments that remind us to slow down and look twice. It’s a stretch of coastline where mist rolls through the evergreens, swell wraps around the headlands, and the light shifts by the minute.

Whether you’re chasing waves or simply watching the horizon fade into fog, there’s something grounding about this coast. Sometimes all it takes is a step back and a different perspective to see how much beauty is waiting right in front of you.
